Fun Facts

  • Collecting obscure trivia seems to be a subconscious hobby of mine. Did you know Elpis was the Greek deity for hope? Or Grandes Horizontales was a term for courtesans in late Victorian France? Rarely did this come in handy for college, but it’s a godsend for dinner parties and icebreakers
  • Yet, I am horrible at giving obscure trivia on myself…
  • And, I love horror movies! But, only so I might mock the characters and plots for being predictable and passé.
  • Zumba has become an obsession of mine. I enjoy letting the rhythm move me as I follow the steps…or try to!
  • I own a cat named Bucky. He’s a gray and white tuxedo cat with the sweetest eyes.
  • I am a living cliché. I love chocolate, and I cannot imagine life without it. Chocolate even seeps into my dreams when I undergo fasting periods for improving my health, mind, and energy.
  • Always a tricky topic is naming my favorite authors. Off the top of my head, as I write this, I would say Jane Austen, Emily Bronte, Alexander Dumas, Charles Dickens, Elizabeth Kostova, Dan Brown, Connie Brockway, Victoria Holt, Lisa Kleypas, Jo Beverly, Chinua Achebe, Khaled Hosseini, and George R.R. Martin. Definitely George R.R. Martin.
  • Favorite poets are Lord Byron, John Keats, Emily Dickinson, and Pablo Neruda to name a few.
  • Favorite TV Shows of mine: The Office, Game of Thrones, The Borgias, The Tudors, Rome, Smash, Poldark, Vikings, Tyrant, Dateline, and 48 Hours.
  • Favorite Movies: Pride & Prejudice (only the A&E version with Colin Firth, of course), The Orphanage, Crimson Peak, Into the Woods, Becoming Jane, Jane Eyre, Belle, Role Models, Ever After, Slumdog Millionaire, and Memoirs of a Geisha.
  • Favorite Bands and Musicians: All-American Rejects, The Temptations, Hall & Oates, Train, Mumford & Sons, Maroon 5, Sam Smith, Adele, The Goo Goo Dolls, Andy Grammar, Justin Timberlake, Journey, Elvis Crespo, Panic! At the Disco, Pentatonix, Hot Chocolate, Chairmen of the Board, Bruno Mars, George Ezra, Michael Buble, and ABBA. However, I love to listen to everything from pop to rock, disco to salsa. As I tell my friends, I do not discriminate in music. If it sounds good to my ears, I like it.
  • Despite the list above, I only write to classical music. It best evokes the mood and time period I write in, which is usually nineteenth-century England.
