What ages are your characters?

The age depends on whether the character is a hero, heroine, or secondary character. My heroes and heroines  always fall into the range of twenty to thirty-five. Young debutantes in my stories are always in their young twenties, while the spinsters are mid-twenties to early thirties. The heroes can be anywhere from late twenties to mid-thirties.

The age of secondary characters depends on their type. Parents to the hero or heroine are, obviously, in their later, golden years. Friends to the hero or heroine are always around the same age as their comrade. Innkeepers, laymen, servants, and other secondary characters vary… I just gave a longer explanation than necessary, huh?

What special things or places inspire you to write?

Anything British! Cornwall has inspired the scenery in the latter half of one of my projects. London townhouses, Almack’s Assembly Rooms, Hatchard’s Bookshop, Vauxhall, St. James, Hyde Park, Rotten Row, and St. Giles are but a few places that have inspired recent projects.

For my next release, Love Amongst the Egyptian Sands, Ancient Egyptian tombs, architecture, and religion were all means of inspiration. And, also, the story of Howard Carter discovering King Tut’s tomb.

What is the one message you hope women will receive when they read your stories?

Be strong in who you are. Follow your dreams, hopes, and prayers. Never settle for anything in life. Always strive for what you deserve, especially in love.

I am not the only author participating in Romance Weekly! There are over a dozen other writers participating in this fun and fabulous event where each Tuesday we will go behind the scenes about writing, publishing, and romance novels! 1. I loved your answers. And Cornwall is one of my favourite places. I particularly love the way Daphne DuMaurier describes it, all wild and untamed. I was born not far from there, and love going back.

  2. I love London, too! My eldest daughter and I spent 8 glorious day there in 2012 – would love to go back.
