How does your writing impact your inner life?
My writing is one of three pillars in my life, the other two being work and my family and friends. These three pillars offer support for my mind and spirit. Without one or the other, it seems as if my life would crumble. I think that analogy is enough to explain how vital writing is to me.
How do you hope your books affect your readers?
I hope readers, obviously, walk away satisfied after reading a good romance, but I want my story to linger for a while. I want a reader to recall moments in my books with a smile or a tear. I want a reader to believe love is possible, but to also feel a sense of profoundness, joy, empowerment, and/or melancholy after the journey is at an end.
Has anyone ever told you your book changed their life? If so, how?
Yes. I was told by one reader In Her Dreams affected how she sees her friendship with her sisters. The reader remarked on their turbulent relationships through adolescence and much of the love, envy, adoration, and pettiness crossed over into their adulthood. Their relationships are still marred by experiences from when they were growing up, but In Her Dreams reminded her of how important it is to love one’s sister. Or, in her case, sisters. The jealousy and envy from years ago should not affect a current relationship between her and her sisters, but instead be worked beyond with love and empathy. My book affected this particular reader in the way I hope my writing always shall. If she’s reading this, good luck to you and your family!
I am not the only author participating in Romance Weekly! There are over a dozen other writers participating in this fun and fabulous event where each Tuesday we will go behind the scenes about writing, publishing, and romance novels! The next author this week is Kate Robbins! Follow the link to see how she beautifully answered these same questions.
