Today’s hero is from Bitter Fruits by Sarah Daltry. This feature couldn’t go without a vampire, and I am so excited we have one in Caleb.
Katherine: How would you describe yourself?
Caleb: Does it matter? I can tell you how humans would describe me. A “vampire” or a “villain.” You are always so quick to label, so slow to understand.
Katherine: What is your most important goal in life?
Caleb: For most of my life, it was to continue our cycle, to do what had to be done. When I fell in love the first time, I wanted my mother to pay, but she was elusive. Now? My goal is to protect Nora, to love Nora, to be the man she sees in me since no one else ever has.
Katherine: Who is the one person you respect and trust?
Katherine: What is your greatest fear?
Caleb: Losing her, or her realizing that everyone else was right and that I did deserve what came to me.
Katherine: What is your greatest hope?
Caleb: That our mother really is gone. So much time has passed now and I hope that she’s going to allow us this respite, but I know differently.
Katherine: What is the biggest obstacle you’ve overcome?
Caleb: Trusting someone. When I fell in love with Nora, I was willing to die for her, to die for my brother. I had never felt that way before. I think I still always blamed him.
Katherine: Who is the love of your life?
Caleb: Nora, without a doubt.
Katherine: Do you remember when you first met Nora?
Caleb: It was at the party. She fell for Alec immediately, and I saw it. I knew she saw the good in him, as everyone does, and it hurt. I knew she would come to hate me because of what would come to pass.
Katherine: What was the one thing you had to overcome to win her?
Caleb: Her love for Alec. She still loves him, but I am okay with that. But how do you tell the woman you love that you’re tasked with killing the man she loves?
Katherine: What was the sweetest romantic gesture you ever did for her?
Caleb: What happened in the church, I believe. Being willing to give up my own life. I’ve never been so self-sacrificing before.
Katherine: If Nora could describe you in one word what would it be?
Caleb: Sexy 😉
